At Four Winds Casinos, we occasionally receive requests from guests about learning how to play table games. We understand that it can be intimidating to walk up to a table with seasoned players and try to learn a new game, so we're going to teach you how to play Roulette!
Roulette is a fun game that provides exciting action for players and onlookers. The object of Roulette is to pick the winning number that will appear on the Roulette wheel. You can also bet combinations of numbers or choose the color or whether it is odd or even.
The Layout
American Roulette has two betting areas and an American Roulette wheel with 38 slots numbered from 00-36. The inside betting area includes individual numbers arranged in 12 rows of three numbers forming three vertical columns. The outside betting area includes boxes for betting on red/black, odd/even and different groups of numbers.
To Play
To play Roulette a player must trade money in for individual colored chips that are good only at the table where they were issued and the value of the chips depends on the amount of your "Buy-in." Each betting cycle begins with the Dealer spinning a ball in the opposite direction of the revolving Roulette wheel head. Bets may be placed until the Dealer announces "No more bets." When the ball comes to rest, the Dealer marks the winning number, and all bets which correspond to this number are paid. Here are a few simple rules to remember when playing Roulette:
Payout Odds
Each roulette table has a minimum and maximum bet and you can't combine your inside and outside bets to meet the table minimum. For instance, if the minimum bet is $5, you must bet $5 on the inside and $5 on the outside, not $3 on the inside and $2 on the outside.
Inside Betting
There are several inside bets that you can make. You can bet a number straight up or straddle the line between numbers to select a combination of numbers. The payouts are as follows:
Outside Betting
The outside bets are any of the bets made in the boxes surrounding the three number columns and payouts are as follows:
