After a three-month search, Hard Rock Café® Four Winds® will host its top four local bands for Hard Rock Rising, the world's largest battle of the bands competition. On Friday, May 26 at 10:30 p.m. EST selected bands will battle it out for a chance to win this year's grand prize – a live performance during halftime at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. A panel of Hard Rock industry professionals carefully chose three local bands, while the community voted online for a wildcard winner.
The bands competing in this year's Battle of the Bands competition are:
• 45 To Argos—45 To Argos is an alternative rock band from Southwest Michigan. With a passion for all parts of music, the guys of 45 To Argos enjoy creating music to inspire and entertain audiences.
• DAVIDSTOUT—DAVIDSTOUT is an indie rock band from Grand Rapids, MI. Driven by energetic guitar parts and dynamic drums and bass, the four-piece band delivers a sound that is all their own.
• Seldom Told—Beginning in 2006, Seldom Told started as a project for a high school music class in North Judson, IN. Since their start, Seldom Told has brought their heavy-hitting rock and roll to national acts as Buck Cherry and more.
• The Cringes—The Cringes are quickly becoming recognized as a hot new indie band from Holland, MI ushering in a new brand of rock and roll. Their sound comes from a wide range of tastes from The Police to Motown to The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
To determine a winner, regional music industry leaders Tom Conway, entertainment reporter from The Herald-Palladium in St. Joseph, Michigan; Garrett "Koz" Kozden, on-air personality from U-93 FM in South Bend, Indiana; and Harvey "Ole Harv" Stauffer, host of The Blues Review with Ole Harv on 88.1 WVPE in Elkhart, Indiana will unite at Hard Rock Cafe Four Winds to judge the competition, hosted by Brant Coulter of Hard Rock Cafe.
The winner from Hard Rock Cafe Four Winds will receive $1,000 and will advance to the next round to be judged by a panel of international music industry professionals. The judges will then determine the three runners-up and a grand prize winner. In partnership with ReverbNation, Hard Rock International will award the top four global acts with a Fender instruments prize pack and a 1,000 CD/DVD pack of the artist's latest recording or video from Bison Disc. The grand prize recipient will perform during halftime at Hard Rock Stadium and will have the opportunity to create a professionally produced music video, which will be added to Hard Rock's world-wide video system.
