Chris Behre was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. because of his father’s work was raised in Brussels Belgium until age 10, then moved to South Bend. He had begun playing guitar at age 8, writing songs by 11, inspired by the amazing music of the 60’s and 70’s, especially the singer/songwriters. He has played live from age 15, and educated at Berklee College Of Music While in school, sang an original song at the famous Berklee Performance Center.
Murph’s musical roots were planted by his mother’s piano playing while he was a child, cultivated by the classic rock and folk of the 60’s and 70’s, the hair metal and new wave sounds of the 80’s, the grunge scene of the 90’s, and were nourished with bits of classical and jazz along the way. Although he’s performed with local Chicago bands such as Mike and Joe, Maggie Speaks, Hairbanger’s Ball, and Wedding Banned, Murph isn’t shy to take the stage as a solo act, using his reputation as a ‘musical encyclopedia,’ and tapping into his musical and vocal versatility to play whatever the audience desires, often changing the song to fit the mood. Murph is at home in the smallest pubs to the largest festivals, inspiring sing-alongs of everyone’s favorite songs wherever he performs.
